Respect Dare is the feminine version of Love Dare book which became famous due to success of Fireproof movie. This book is about being challenged to deep your connection with your husband by communicating with him in his language: respect. As women in ministry, women of God and women in church, we are taught to respect our husbands but not much is explained in practical ways what that really means. Respect Dare differs from other books because it offers daily questions to meditate plus exercises.
The book really caught my
attention in many ways, but mostly
about expectations( Hollywood and TV series have done a great job in keeping women frustrated with their reality) and how the way women were brought up could affect their
marriage tremendously. Most women tend to bring their emotional family baggage
from their parents' marriage to theirs. The problem becomes even greater when
they take what their parents' established as truth as something they should
live by instead of God's word. One of the most striking statements I read in this book was letting
our silence speak through our actions.Women listen with their ears but men
listen with their eyes. I certainly have seen that in my marriage. The
more I talked, the less he changed. The more I did in silence, the more he
changed. A man can fight your words ALL DAY LONG but he can't fight your actions. One
dare a day keeps the old man nature habits away.I have seen major changes in my marriage because of this book. God has worked in me as He worked in my husband as well. If you are willing to take the challenge and stay coachable to God's voice, you will see amazing results as well but you must be dedicated and focused. You can't do one dare today and pick up your book next week.Consistency is key here.
Pros: it is short and sweet. Cons: some dares seem a little repetitive, but if you can get pass that, you will reap wonderful benefits. If you are ready to put your big girl pants on and take your spiritual life and marriage to the next level, this book is totally for you!
